3D laser scanning in cooperation with Estonian company „Reaalprojekt”
Laser scanning is a form of 3D surveying technology that makes it possible to collect large quantities of accurate 3D information from objects and the surrounding environment in a very short space of time.
A laser scanner is a device that determines the location of the measured point when the laser beam is reflected back. Faster devices perform such measurements at a speed of up to one million points per second. This makes it possible to obtain an accurate, high-resolution 3D point cloud of an object or the surrounding environment in minutes. Point clouds can be used to make 3D models, drawings or patterns, in various studies and more.
Laser sanning is divided as static laser scanning (from a tripod), mobile laser scanning (from a vehicle moving on land or water) and aerial laser scnning (from plane or helicoper).
Why it is necessary?
The need for 3D surveying has increased considerably as a result of rapid developments in BIM technology in the area of design and construction. Laser scanning is the most efficient technology for this.
To perform 3D surveying Reaalprojekt uses a laser scanner Leica ScanStation P20 which represents the latest technology. An innovative combination of advanced time-of-flight range measurement plus modern Waveform Digitising (WFD) technology enables to achieve ultra-high scan speeds and low-noise performance at extended range. Leica ScanStation P20 has an integrated 5 megapixel camera wich enables to combine RGB data with point cloud.
For point cloud processing and 3D modelling different software are used as Leica Cyclone, 3D Reshaper, Autodesk Revit, Civil 3D etc.
In cooperation with Finnish company VRT Finalnd Oy specialized in underwater inspection with the 3D-measurement.
